The History Department welcomed students into a new academic year, and the energy in the room showed just how much our undergraduate community is ready to dive in. About thirty undergraduates, including first-time History majors, transfer students, and familiar faces returning for another year, gathered to connect, ask questions, and get a head start on the quarter.
The History Enthusiasts Club kicked things off with a lively presentation about their upcoming events and the many ways students can get involved. Whether you're looking for a community of fellow history lovers, to attend faculty forums, or just a fun way to spend an afternoon, the Club will host many exciting events. The Undergraduate Advisor, Veronica Ibarra, and Faculty Undergraduate Advisor, Alejandra Dubcovsky, also walked students through the ins and outs of the History major, from the exciting lineup of Fall courses to upcoming opportunities. Attendees also learned about the Highlander Historians Radio Show, where students can explore the past, share stories, and bring their UCR history to life.
And of course, no start to the year would be complete without supplies! Students left with free blue books and plenty of goodies to help them start the quarter right.
To everyone who joined us: welcome (and welcome back)! We can't wait to see what this year brings. Stop by the department, say hello, and let's make it a great year of history together.
