On April 23, 2025, Hailee Menchaca, a Ph.D. candidate in History, received the highly competitive UC President’s Pre-Professoriate Fellowship at the University of California, Riverside, at the Graduate Division Award Ceremony. Hailee will receive a full year of support from this fellowship, allowing her to dedicate herself entirely to her research, releasing her from teaching responsibilities.
Hailee becomes part of the inaugural cohort of UC-Hispanic Serving Institutions Doctoral Diversity Initiative (UC-HSI DDI) as she further prepares to become a professor committed to advancing equity and inclusion in academia. Most importantly, Hailee intends to continue sharing the histories of ethnic Mexicans and the Latinas/os in college classrooms. Hailee is advised by Dr. Jorge N. Leal and Dr. Molly McGarry.
