How do theories of race develop and become reflected in place? As a public historian, I use local history as well as material and visual culture to investigate these themes. My current projects involve creating story maps for the Chinese immigrant and Chinese American communities living in Southern California during the Chinese Exclusion Act Era (1880s-1940s).
